Brookfield East High School students want to know...

Updated: Mar 26, 2022

1. What specific event or occurrence led you to wanting to run for the board?
If I were to name one specific event, it would be Fall 2021 when I reviewed the district’s K-8 MAP score decline that is posted on the district’s website.

2. What are some short term changes that you plan to implement? Why do you feel these changes are necessary for the overall improvement of the district?
My short term immediate change assessment would be the academics and closing its gaps through accountability.
3. How are you different in the way you manage stressful situations or problems in comparison to others?
I have led many change management initiatives for one of the top 10 largest health systems. What I learned is that the best stress management is to take actions to address problems and finding immediate action plans within a long term, sustainable, and practical solutions. This is also true as a Mom of three children.
4. What skills or traits do you plan to bring to the table as head of the school board?
I bring to the table, as a school board member, collaborative practical solutions as a proven visionary leader with my authentic self. Every organization performs an annual recalibration of its mission and core business. My core business as a school board member will be the academics, evidenced by consistent and measurable outcomes in the learning of our students with an upward trajectory through accountability. I bring collaboration, peer accountability, representation of the community I serve, honest questions and compassion to the Elmbrook school board.
5. How do you insure that members of the board will continue to develop professionally and make calculated decisions?
I believe in being present where the work is being done. As a leader with top tier team engagement ranking I have always tried my best to walk the talk and keep an open channel of communication and open door with those who are impacted by my decisions. This is how I professionally develop and learn from those who are doing the work at the front line so that I can ensure the decisions made are not inadvertently impeding the goal and to adjust as necessary to provide the most optimal environment for the people (students/teachers) to excel.

6. How does your personal life and previous career relate to your current goals for the school board?
I think I answered this on question #3. The uniqueness of each person’s life experience is what is necessary for checks and balances and to ensure there is acceptance of everyone’s perspective and be mindful of cancel culture mindset that promotes one thought, one idea. Diversity and freedom of thoughts and perspective are critical in ensuring our children are taught HOW to think, and not WHAT to think with determined answers.

7. Is there anything in particular you feel people should know about in terms of your intentions or goals that you may not have previously addressed?
My intention, as stated earlier, is to ensure the Elmbrook district is recalibrated to its core business of academics by closing current gaps, and start heading on an upward trajectory.
